Coming from a family that worked everyday long hours to keep food on the table, I depend on financial aid to help pay my college tuition. Although I still have to pay a couple thousand dollars a year to stay in college, I at lease do not have to pay $24 thousand a year. I was reading an article that talked about how students at USF Communication department are required to have their own Macs, video camera, and tape recorder. This was ridiculous because all this money that people pay to go to school and to still have to pay for equipment out of your own packet. It would be nice if Federal Financial Aid would help low income students pay for this type of equipment. Being a communication major myself it would make my life so much easier if I had my own video camera, tripod, and microphone, because I do not have to wait until someone is available to checkout equipment, but since I do not have money to buy this expensive equipment I have to settle. I am glad that my college has this equipment available to students to use, because I would not be able to buy it myself.
